As Breakfast Week is coming to an end, we wanted to leave you with five facts about breakfast!
We know mornings can be a blur, but it’s important to fuel your body for the day ahead to avoid feeling sluggish and hangry! We have breakfast available every school day to all students who want to enjoy their meal at school. You can see our breakfast (and lunch!) menus at http://www.lcpshealthycafe.org
Here are your five facts:
-On average, 8-12% of kids say that they skip breakfast and when reaching adolescence that number increases to 20-30%. WOW!
-Fiber and protein are the most important aspects of breakfast. Be sure to incorporate these into your breakfast to get the most vitamins and minerals possible! A healthy breakfast will make you feel more energized throughout the day!
-The world’s first breakfast cereal was created in 1863 and needed to be soaked overnight to be chewable! (The first person to guess this breakfast cereal gets a shout-out!)
-Bananas are the most popular fruit in the world with over 100 billion being eaten each year! 50% of these are eaten during breakfast!
-Kids who eat breakfast do better in school and are more likely to participate in physical activity.
Have a good weekend 🙂
